A personal project of mine, SawBones is a tool for the recursive analysis of resources used by a web-page. Which is a long-winded way of saying a tool that analyses web-page structure. The analysed results are displayed to the user, as well as being stored securely in a database against the URL of the site provided. Following an initial addition of a page to the database, results are then re-collected from that URL every 30 days subsequently and stored alongside the history of results for the page.

Over the past 4 years, this site has seen several iterations in the form of new designs every 12 months or so. While this may on the surface seem like a good idea for an ambitious young designer/developer such as myself to always show my latest and greatest creative ability - I’ve come to realise it’s actually doing me and my own goals more harm than good, here’s why.

I develop simple, free, open-source web applications designed to fill a specific niche. Their limited scope and specific purpose allows me to maintain a crucial active role in the development process. That said, I'm more than happy for others to re-release my work with updates, modifications or as part of a larger piece of software - although recognition is much appreciated!

Beauty In Accessibility

I design and build beautiful web interfaces for clients as well as templates for sale in the shop. Design on the web is as much about usability as it is making an attractive user-interface. Luckily, I'm heavily invested in achieving both in every interface I design. Through the study of good design practice, web standards and usability related issues I've become accustomed to considering all related issues in my work.
